We are delighted to present The Bernie Linder Lecture Series Scholar-in-Residence Weekend July 10-12 at Agudas Israel.

Our Scholar-in-Residence Rabbi Alan Freedman, Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Beth Shalom in Austin, Texas, will lead us in engaging discussions centered on how Jewish text and traditions have guided decision-making across generations and how Jewish ethics resonate today.

Friday, July 10, 5:30pm — Shabbat Service featuring a sermon by Rabbi Freedman, followed by Shabbat dinner.

Saturday, July 11, 10:30am — Shabbat morning Torah study examining ethical questions found in the weekly portion Mattot-Masei. Following Torah study, we will share lunch and discuss the moral implications of war through a Jewish lens.

Sunday, July 12, 2:00pm — Presentation and discussion on medical ethics, from genetics to the end of life.
